Your interests and goals naturally change over time, or maybe you are simply not feeling as challenged at work. Even if you’ve enjoyed your time in your current job, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t want to try something new.
Here are some signs that could be telling you it’s time to change jobs…
1. You often feel stressed and tired
If you find yourself dragging your feet to work or lacking the energy to sink your teeth into the next project, it might be time to re-evaluate your work. If you think that contemplating a job search is stressful, just imagine how much stress your body is taking on right now, as you slog through the week at a job that no longer challenges or excites you.
2. Company culture is not aligned with your way of thinking
A lack of shared values can be a powerful motivator so if the work culture is not something you feel comfortable with it may be time to move on. Or perhaps you are looking for a different environment that supports more flexible hours or the opportunity to work from home which suits your needs more.
3. You're watching the clock
If you find yourself literally counting down the hours until you can log off and get out, it may be time to move onto pastures new. If you think about it you spend most of your waking hours working, so shouldn’t you feel enthusiastic or motivated about your job? Maybe it doesn’t stretch you anymore or maybe your current employer can’t develop your role further – whatever the reason it could be.
4. You’ve just grown out of your current role
No matter how well you get on with colleagues or how good you are at your job, staying in a role out of a sense of loyalty or hesitation to change can be very demotivating especially if your skill set and work experience have made you hungry for more.
