“Do you have any questions for me?” – it’s safe to say that most interviewers will ask the person they’re interviewing this question. And do you know what your answer should be? “Yes”.
Job interviews can be nerve wracking, we know, but at Ceek we like to think of interviews as conversations that help both parties to get to know each other better. If I get the job, what will a typical day look like for me?
Job descriptions are great for getting a feel of what will be expected of you, but most jobs will entail a number of things that won’t be listed. Apart from that, you’ll want to watch out for what the company says about things not related to the job, like team building activities, the atmosphere at work, management style…in other words, company culture.
What are the expectations you have for the person who fills this role?
This question is very important because again, it delves deeper than your day-to-day tasks. Your interviewer will probably mention characteristics related to team dynamics and personality as an answer to this question. Do you fit in with what they expect of you?

Let’s face it, companies like to brag about employee engagement during interviews. They want to show potential candidates that this place is one of the best you could work at, so with this question, you’re not only lifting them up, but also learning about career prospects and growth within the company.

Does the company have a 5/10 year plan? Where do you want to be?
Chances are, you were asked this question during your interview. Show your interviewer that you not only care about yourself, but also the company. This questions shows loyalty and drive to strive for excellence. Apart from that, it also shows that you think ahead in terms of where you could fit in, in the grander scheme of things.
BONUS: I don’t have any questions at the moment, but would it be ok to send them via e-mail if I have anything to ask?
Sometimes you may feel that there is no room for questions because the above questions have already been answered through the interview, or you simply can’t think of any other good ones. That’s perfectly fine! We suggest that you let your interviewer know that you might contact them later (and we think you should!).
Bottom line is this – in a job interview you want to convey interest, enthusiasm, and drive. Asking questions, smart questions, at the end of an interview demonstrates just how dedicated you really are, so don’t be shy, prove to the company that you’re just what they’re looking for!
